The Role
  • Carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance carpentry tasks across campus buildings.

  • Repair and install door hardware, access control systems, and fire-release mechanisms.

  • Assemble and fit kitchen units, worktops, and general building fabric items.

  • Support listed building works and ensure heritage assets are maintained properly.

  • Provide input on small projects, estimates, and maintenance improvements.

  • Join the on-call rota (one weekend in 4/5) with allowance plus overtime for call-outs.

  • Work independently as well as part of a multi-trade team.

The Person
  • Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Carpentry.

  • Skilled in maintenance carpentry for doors, fittings, and building fabric.

  • Confident using woodworking machinery and handheld tools.

  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.

  • Good communication skills with a customer-focused approach.

  • Full UK driving licence required.

  • Flexible to join the on-call rota and work occasional unsociable hours.
