About the Role:
A friendly and inclusive primary school in Reading is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children with additional behavioural or emotional needs reach their full potential in a nurturing and structured learning environment.

As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting both individual pupils and small groups, promoting positive behaviour, and helping to create a calm, encouraging classroom atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural or emotional challenges.
  • Assist the class teacher in managing behaviour and promoting positive learning attitudes.
  • Implement tailored behaviour strategies and individual support plans.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to boost engagement and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the SENCO to ensure consistent, effective support.
  • Follow all safeguarding and inclusion policies within the Reading primary school.

Person Specification:

  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting, ideally as a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation.
  • Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible, proactive, and committed to helping children succeed.
  • A positive, reliable presence in the classroom.
