I am seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Assistant Manager to join the dynamic tax team in my clients Thames Valley office. This role will provide professional support to the whole of the Corporate Tax department, assisting managers, directors, and partners to manage taxation relationship services for a diverse portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses, listed companies, multinational groups, and private equity backed businesses.

You will take responsibility for managing corporate tax compliance and advisory matters across a broad range of clients, handling their taxation affairs and other company tax-related requirements with precision and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients and prioritizing work effectively
  • Serving as the primary contact for clients throughout the tax cycle, proactively raising and communicating tax matters
  • Building and maintaining client and third-party relationships from initial setup meetings through ongoing service delivery
  • Preparing tax computations and returns, calculating tax liabilities, and providing appropriate client advice
  • Creating deferred tax calculations, tax reconciliations, and tax disclosures for statutory accounts
  • Reviewing work prepared by peers and junior team members
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities and potential areas for client base expansion and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Developing strong relationships with other departments (audit, business solutions) to deliver integrated client services
  • Responding to client queries efficiently and promptly
  • Working within agreed fee structures, meeting deadlines, and supporting monthly client billing
  • Supporting senior leadership with advisory matters
  • Conducting technical research and handling ad hoc projects as required

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification in a relevant field (CTA, ACA, or equivalent)
  • Excellent working knowledge and practical experience in corporate tax compliance, advisory work, and tax planning
  • Demonstrated experience managing a client portfolio with proven soft skills including:
    • Deadline management
    • Building effective client relationships
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication
    • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Confidence in handling clients' day-to-day compliance matters
  • Competence in drafting tax disclosures for statutory accounts
  • Business acumen with the ability to anticipate client needs proactively
  • Interest in business development and promoting new initiatives
  • Experience reviewing junior staff work and providing on-the-job training and support
  • Experience with relevant tax software (Alphatax preferred but not essential-training provided)
