Cabling Surveyor, Reading
Security Clearance: Must be eligible for SC/DV clearance
We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-driven Surveyor to join our expanding team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with strong design, survey, and stakeholder management skills, particularly in secure or MOD environments.
You will be responsible for conducting in-depth surveys, developing infrastructure designs (copper and fibre), and producing documentation to support high-quality and compliant installations across critical networks.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Surveying
- Conduct on-site surveys of existing and new copper/fibre network infrastructure.
- Apply structured cabling and containment design principles (CNIDP preferred).
- Collaborate with CAD Designers to produce single-line diagrams and infrastructure layouts.
- Prepare documentation including BOMs, HLDs, LLDs, patching schedules, and detailed scopes of work.
Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with customer facility managers and Asbestos Focal Group to ensure safe installations.
- Ensure all designs align with CDM regulations and MOD guidelines (JSP604).
- Complete Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and engage with SCIDAs to ensure technical and compliance accuracy.
Project Delivery & Commercial Oversight
- Flag risks and assumptions across each project scope.
- Validate survey data and ensure commercial viability of design proposals.
- Coordinate with Rocs Delivery and Health & Safety Managers to ensure readiness before site works commence.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, from suppliers to work area managers.
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Strong understanding of network cabling infrastructure (copper/fibre) and containment design.
- Working knowledge of CDM regulations and health & safety processes.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage technical delivery and act as a point of escalation.
- Eligible for SC or DV security clearance.
Desirable:
- CNIDP, CNCI, or equivalent technical qualifications.
- Knowledge of MOD infrastructure standards (JSP604) and CIDA Design Course.
- Experience with ECR processes and working alongside SCIDAs.
- Qualifications such as BTEC Level 3 in Telecommunications, City & Guilds, SSSTS, or Streetworks.
