Based just outside Reading, Berkshire our recently acquired client is looking for a Fleet Scheduling Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is fully office based and the hours are 7am to 5pm.

This job would suit someone with strong customer service skills, ideally with familiarity with the transport or logistics sector, with exceptional organisational skills to plan efficient schedules and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

This specialist business provides efficient solutions to customers' domestic problems, operating across Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire with plans to expand further. The company has been acquired recently and sits alongside another company in the Group (based in Bristol).

The successful individual will be highly organised with excellent communication skills, as you'll spend a lot of time on the phone discussing issues with both drivers and customers. This person must have exceptional organisational skills to plan efficient schedules and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with confidence in making independent, informed decisions. To be suitable for this role you must enjoy working collaboratively, contributing to a supportive and solutions-driven team culture. Experience with Big Change would be an advantage.

Duties will include:

  • Liaising with drivers and customers
  • Plan and organise daily schedules and routes for lorries and multiple drivers.
  • Optimise drivers' schedules for efficiency in time and fuel usage.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and customers via phone and email to address inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Use transport planning software (e.g., Big Change) to coordinate drivers' activities
  • Operate in a fast-paced, reactive, and dynamic work environment, making quick and informed decisions.
  • Provide a high level of customer service while maintaining a positive and professional demeanour.
  • Manage unforeseen challenges such as traffic, weather, or maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot problems and ensure smooth daily operations.
