HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter - Days- £52,800

  • Salary: £37,500 to £52,800 OTE depending on shift and overtime
  • Hours: 40 per week
  • Shift Options: Day 08:00- 16:30
  • Job Type: Full-time, permanent

The Role

Join a busy, professional HGV workshop in Reading and take your career to the next level. You'll carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on HGVs to keep them safe, compliant, and on the road. With overtime at time and a half and late shift allowances, this role gives you the chance to maximise your earnings while working in a supportive, well-equipped workshop.

Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter
  • Carrying out servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs
  • Performing major and minor mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Diagnosing faults and completing repair plans
  • Maintaining accurate records and completing all required paperwork
  • Carrying out wheel alignment and tyre fitting
  • Ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment
Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter Essential
  • Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI)
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to identify worn and faulty components in line with DVSA standards
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • Experience working with diagnostics and advanced repair systems
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Flexible approach with strong attention to detail
