Job Title: Civil Engineer (Rail Earthworks & Drainage)
Location: Sonning (Reading area), with initial work in Swindon
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
Contract Type - Fulltime, Permanent

We're looking for a Civil Engineer, ideally with rail experience, to support a major infrastructure project focused on earthworks and drainage across the western rail network.
Â
You'll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle-from design through to delivery and close-out. The role begins in Swindon during pre-construction and transitions to site-based work in Sonning once construction starts in 2025.

Key Responsibilities of the Civil Engineer:
Â
- Support design development to ensure buildability
- Plan access and construction methods with the supply chain
- Liaise with stakeholders during pre-construction
- Coordinate temporary site facilities with land agents
- Assist with procurement and supply chain selection
- Identify public interface risks and support mitigation planning
- Lead mobilisation of site facilities and team
- Manage subcontractors and on-site operations
- Oversee engineering and quality throughout the build
- Work under NEC4 contract terms
- Promote health, safety, and environmental standards on site
- Contribute to assessing and tracking project viability

What We're Looking For:
Â
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- ICE Graduate, Incorporated, or Chartered Membership
- SMSTS and CSCS card required
- PTS certification preferred (can be provided)
- Rail sector experience desirable
