Environmental Protection Officer

We are seeking an Environmental Protection Officer for a temporary backfill position due to a team member's secondment. This role is crucial for maintaining our standards of environmental protection, focusing on issues like noise nuisance and rat control. The successful candidate will be based at the Civic Offices and will support our team by responding to customer enquiries from residents, businesses, and other council teams.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Review customer enquiries regarding environmental protection issues.
  • Conduct initial responses which may include drafting and sending letters, making phone calls, sending emails, and conducting initial site visits to investigate issues.
  • Produce brief reports on site visits to inform the team for necessary follow-up actions.
  • Adapt to various tasks within the role depending on experience but focusing primarily on noise nuisance investigations and rat inspections.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for environmental protection.
  • Experience in conducting noise nuisance investigations and rat inspections is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive in handling and resolving issues efficiently.
