Role:Commercial Strategy Lead - Liabilities Decommissioning
Location: Hybrid - Reading area 2 days per week
Salary: £700 - £800 Per Day Outside IR35

We need a Commercial Strategy Lead to manage and deliver commercial planning, strategy, market management and procurement life cycle for all pre-contract activity involved in liabilities and a decommissioning programme. Our work supports national safety, sustainability, and value for money in managing one of the most complex challenges in the public sector.
The Role
As Commercial Strategy Lead - Liabilities Decommissioning, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving commercial strategies for the long-term management and reduction of nuclear liabilities. You will be at the forefront of strategic commercial decision-making, working with delivery partners, government stakeholders, and internal experts to deliver decommissioning outcomes that are commercially robust, sustainable, and aligned with national priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of commercial strategies for liabilities decommissioning across the nuclear estate.
- Act as a subject matter expert in strategic procurement, contract management, and risk allocation.
- Support major programme delivery by advising on commercial models that drive efficiency, innovation, and value for the taxpayer.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders in government, regulators, and industry to ensure transparency and accountability in commercial practices.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact commercial initiatives within a regulated environment.
- Monitor supplier performance and market engagement, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and commercial excellence.
About You
We are looking for a commercially astute and strategically minded leader who brings:
- Proven experience in commercial strategy, preferably within highly regulated or complex infrastructure environments.
- Deep understanding of public procurement processes, commercial governance, and contract negotiation.
- Familiarity with nuclear, energy, or decommissioning sectors.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- A degree or professional qualification in law, engineering, business, or a related discipline (CIPS, RICS, or equivalent preferred).
