An established national construction and property consultancy is seeking a confident and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing Reading office. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take on high-profile projects, lead client relationships, and fast-track their progression towards Associate level.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor Role

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will become a key member of one of three specialist cost management teams in Reading, working alongside 15 professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment. The team is heavily involved in delivering complex, NEC-based projects, with a particular focus on the Defence, Education, and PBSA (Purpose-Built Student Accommodation) sectors.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take the lead on a major Defence programme, managing several high-value projects ranging from 50m to over 1bn, for a prestigious and long-standing client. This role will give the Senior Quantity Surveyor the opportunity to develop long-term client relationships, drive cost strategy, and oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale schemes.

Alongside technical delivery, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will support the development of junior colleagues, contribute to business growth, and play an integral part in the long-term success of the team.

With brand-new offices, hybrid working (2-3 days in-office), and a clear route to Associate, this consultancy offers both the project exposure and professional support needed to thrive.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor - Requirements

  • A RICS Accredited degree qualification (ideally BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying)
  • MRICS preferred but not essential
  • Previous Quantity Surveying experience in a UK Construction Consultancy / PQS firm
  • NEC contract experience - highly desirable
  • A successful track record leading projects from inception to completion, often juggling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to lead a team work to tight deadlines, staying organised, and managing workload efficiently
