An outstanding specialist school in Reading, Berkshire, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant / Teaching Assistant to support children aged 4-11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex behaviours.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology, Counselling or Criminology graduate (or a candidate with relevant experience) who is keen to build hands-on experience in a specialist setting - perfect for an aspiring educational psychologist, therapeutic support worker, or SEN teacher.



About the Role:

  • Mental Health Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm)

  • ASAP start

  • Working closely with pupils with SEMH and complex needs

  • Collaborating with on-site psychologists, therapists, and specialist teachers

  • Supporting pupils both in class and through targeted interventions

  • Gaining invaluable experience shadowing therapy sessions and interventions



The Ideal Candidate:

A graduate in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology (other related subjects considered)
Level 3 qualifications or above preferred
Confident, resilient, proactive, and able to use initiative
Open-minded, patient and enthusiastic about supporting young people
Previous experience working with children, young people or adults with SEN/SEMH (personal or professional) is desirable but not essential
