Social Worker - Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team

Reading Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker for our Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. Join a supportive service committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and their families.

Pay Rate: Up to £40 per hour

Hybrid working: 3 days in the office

Job Description:

As a Social Worker in the CWD team, you will manage a caseload of children and young people with disabilities, undertaking assessments and developing child-centred plans. Your role will involve safeguarding children, assessing needs for services, and coordinating multi-agency support. You will work closely with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure children receive appropriate care, support, and opportunities to thrive. This includes completing statutory assessments, review plans, and contribute to the overall well-being and development of disabled children in Reading.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of need for children with disabilities and their families.
  • Developing and implementing child-centred plans, including CIN, CP, and LAC plans.
  • Working collaboratively with health, education, and voluntary sector partners.
  • Providing direct support and advice to families.
  • Safeguarding children and contributing to child protection procedures.
  • Attending and contributing to relevant meetings, including Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Children Reviews.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
  • SWE registration.
  • Experience of working with children with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Ability to undertake complex assessments and develop effective plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to multi-agency working.
