Astute's Renewables team is partnering with an Operations & Maintenance specialist responsible for the management of utility-scale, ground-mounted solar PV assets across the UK and Europe. We are recruiting for a Head of HV / Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to provide technical leadership and oversight of all high-voltage operations, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient performance of the solar portfolio.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will:

  • Lead and manage all high-voltage (HV) operations across multiple solar farm sites.
  • Act as the Authorising Engineer, ensuring safe and compliant HV activities.
  • Provide technical expertise to resolve complex engineering and installation challenges.
  • Oversee and deliver specialist HV services, including commissioning and testing.
  • Develop and expand the organisation's HV operational capability.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train SAPs, APs, and Competent Persons.
  • Manage HV projects across the portfolio, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.
  • Authorise and review HV reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, IMS standards, and all Quality, H&S, and Environmental objectives.


Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Fully conversant with the UK electrical power distribution industry, including relevant standards, practices, and procedures.
  • AP15-certified High Voltage Senior Authorised Person (up to 33kV).
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience within the UK solar PV industry, ideally across utility-scale assets.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

  • Ability to lead and mentor HV and electrical teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex HV issues
  • Clear communication with technical teams and stakeholders
  • Confident in making safe and compliant operational decisions
