Database Engineer
- Annual Salary: £35,000 - £37,000
- Location: Redcar, Teesside
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain database and GIS infrastructure according to organizational standards.
- Manage technical links between GIS and various departmental systems, including software patches and upgrades.
- Uphold data standards compliant with data protection regulations and create detailed database documentation.
- Develop automated tools for managing database capacity and performance.
- Monitor database growth, manage access permissions, and ensure security measures are in place.
- Implement effective storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures.
- Administer databases with a focus on GIS, and manage related software licenses and hardware.
- Provide advanced support to staff, assist in disaster recovery, and ensure business continuity.
- Maintain regular communication with technical and operational teams to secure database integrity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in database and GIS administration within a corporate or public sector setting.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems and GIS software.
- Proficient in maintaining data standards and understanding data protection laws.
- Skilled in developing GIS services using HTML and Java.
- Excellent project management abilities and teamwork skills.
- Capable of managing external suppliers and overseeing web server administration.
