My client is urgently seeking a Transport Office Co-ordinator to manage operations and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. This role is crucial for maintaining high levels of customer service and efficient operational management. The successful candidate will interact closely with drivers, the sales team, and both internal and external customers, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication at all levels.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Liaise with customers in a professional manner, ensuring all queries are promptly and effectively addressed.
  • Process customer requests from initial order through to invoicing, ensuring accuracy in data recording and minimal customer queries.
  • Supervise transport employees, maintain contact with drivers, and ensure effective debriefs are conducted.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential operational service failures to minimise complaints.
  • Prepare daily computerised drivers’ routes to ensure maximum productivity and revenue.
  • Ensure effective and economic utilisation of the vehicle fleet while meeting customer needs.
  • Coordinate with the vehicle workshops and Fleet department to ascertain fleet availability.
  • Arrange third-party transport and temporary staff as required.
  • Assist the Depot Manager in ensuring compliance with the Company’s Operators Licence and all transport operations adhere to health & safety procedures.
  • Manage digital and analogue tachograph data and report any driving infringements.
  • Produce timely reports and handle administrative tasks such as signing in visitors and issuing site rules.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Ideally 2 years’ office-based experience in transport operations.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a confident communicator.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and capable of learning new IT systems.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good local geographical knowledge.
  • Flexible attitude with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to resolving issues.
