Description
- Lead and quality-check complex ER casework across the Trust
- Manage and develop a team of ER professionals (currently 6, growing to 7)
- Develop and implement an Employee Relations strategy with the Head of ER
- Oversee ER KPIs, reporting systems, and cultural/EDI trend analysis
- Act as escalation point for complex or sensitive ER issues
- Design and deliver ER-related training to HR teams and managers
- Collaborate with legal teams, trade unions, and governance bodies
- Contribute to policy development and ensure legal compliance
- Deputise for Head of ER on key projects and tribunal cases
Profile
A successful 'Employee Relations Manager' should have:
- CIPD Level 5 or 7 - essential
- NHS or similar, wider public sector experience - essential
- Proven experience managing complex, high-volume ER casework
- Previous team leadership in a strategic ER environment
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including unions and legal teams
- Strong coaching, conflict resolution, and training delivery skills
- Unflappable, firm but fair approach with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting ER data and trends
- Confident managing policy development and legal compliance
