Position: Mechanical Engineer - Water
Location: Remote working with a base in Surrey, West Midlands or South Wales
Rate Guide: 50.00 - 55.00 Per Hour
Our client is a leading Consultancy operating within the water industry, who are delivering a number of water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects across multiple AMP8 frameworks throughout the UK. They are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineers to be based from one of their offices either in Surrey, West Midlands or South Water but with remote working available.
You will have the opportunity to work on a range of challenging engineering projects on both clean water and wastewater schemes, delivering engineering solutions ranging from concept design through to detailed design for construction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Production of clear and concise engineering deliverables including general arrangement drawings, equipment sizing calculations, equipment and material selection, enquiry documentation, datasheets, schedules and reports.
- Coordinating the development of key multidiscipline deliverables such as P&IDs.
- Managing design interfaces with other disciplines and integration of the mechanical design elements into the overall design.
- Working closely with project teams, other engineering disciplines, Project Managers, estimating, site and commissioning teams, CAD, Joint Venture partners and Clients.
- Undertaking technical bid assessments, subcontractor design reviews and providing technical support to site teams.
- Managing assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Compliance with in-house procedural & quality systems.
Person Specification:
The role is suitable for technically strong, commercially aware candidates with a background in Mechanical Engineering and the water industry. You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
- A good working knowledge of clean water and/or wastewater engineering design principals, equipment selection criteria and treatment processes.
- Experience of typical standards and practices, CDM, procurement processes and document control.
- Degree qualified in mechanical engineering, or closely associated course.
- Must be enthusiastic, adaptable and be driven to provide efficient engineering solutions.
- Be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision within multi-discipline teams to deliver engineering outputs to time and budget.
