We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Communication Support Assistant to join our team, providing essential support to hearing-impaired students. The ideal candidate will possess BSL Level 3 or above and have a passion for facilitating communication and learning within an educational setting.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Support hearing-impaired students within classroom settings, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum.
  • Work 1:1 with students to provide tailored support and run small group intervention sessions.
  • Utilise BSL to communicate effectively with students and enhance their learning experience.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt materials and teaching methods to meet the needs of hearing-impaired students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including an accredited BSL course provided by the school.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) at Level 3 or above; Level 6 is preferred.
  • Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Previous classroom experience or experience working with young deaf people is advantageous.
  • Understanding of how to support deaf students in accessing the curriculum.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
