  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering is highly beneficial, along with proficiency in CAD software and knowledge of automotive standards.

We are currently undergoing recruitment for an Senior Manufacturing Design to join our client in the Rhayader area.

  • Monday – Friday
  • £50,000 per annum
  • Straight to permanent contract

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimise powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, electric motors, transmissions, and hybrid systems.
  • Create detailed design specifications, CAD models, and technical drawings.
  • Conduct simulations and physical testing to evaluate performance, durability, and compliance.
  • Includes mentoring less experienced designers
  • Analyse test data and implement design improvements.
  • Manage powertrain projects from concept through to production.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and quality assurance to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies in automotive propulsion and powertrain efficiency.
  • Innovate new solutions for energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and performance enhancement.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry regulations and environmental standards.
  • Document all engineering processes, changes, and design decisions.

Skills and requirements:

  • Automotive/powertrain plus reading and analysing manufacturing drawings
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is highly beneficial
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in automotive powertrain development or related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with powertrain simulation tools (e.g., GT-Power, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of automotive standards (SAE, ISO) and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with electric and hybrid vehicle technologies is a plus.
