Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator

OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator to join our client’s dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring financial efficiency throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.

This role is full time Monday - Friday, office based and on-site.

Duties

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with financial targets.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and verify that work is being carried out according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with Project / Contract Managers and other team members to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of bids from contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field would be desirable.
  • Proven experience in cost control within the construction industry is essential as well as surveying and estimating large size projects.
  • Good overall knowledge of the industry, including JCT Contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications for quantity surveying and cost management.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full driving licence required - vehicle and fuel card provided.
