1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Ripon, North Yorkshire
Salary: £90 – £110 per day

Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference?
GSL Education is working in partnership with a Primary School in Ripon to appoint a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in Year 2, starting immediately and continuing through to the end of the summer term.
About the Role:
You will be supporting a Key Stage 1 child who is working on a bespoke curriculum, on a 1:1 basis alongside a specialist teacher. Their learning follows a clear and consistent routine of structured tasks and choice-led activities. The successful teaching assistant will play a key role in maintaining consistency, emotional safety, and encouraging engagement in learning throughout the school day.
As the ideal Teaching Assistant, you should have:
- Experience supporting children with additional needs or emotional regulation difficulties.
- The ability to think on your feet and implement creative distraction and de-escalation strategies.
- A strong understanding of emotion coaching, behaviour management, and setting clear boundaries.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
