EC&I Technician -Power Station

Alecto Recruitment is partnering with a market-leading owner-operator in the power generation sector, actively seeking an EC&I Technician to join their Electrical Controls and Instrumentation team at their Combined Cycle Gas Turbine facility in Kent.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Protection Act.
  • Prepare, manage, and oversee contracts supporting the designated station.
  • Implement Company Safety Rules as Competent or Authorised Person to maintain system safety.
  • Deliver service and maintenance best practices at the assigned site.
  • Manage contracts and supervise personnel during plant overhauls.
  • Apply proactive, creative approaches to fault diagnosis and problem-solving.
  • Provide 24/7 support to ensure maintenance plans are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality and environmental standards.
  • Support and achieve Process Safety KPIs within areas of responsibility.
  • Develop understanding of business and station objectives; contribute to budget and cost management.
  • Conduct procurement activities per company policies, including developing technical specifications.
  • Participate in major and interim inspections and overhauls, managing contractors in line with commercial requirements.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance on EC&I equipment and systems.
  • Maintain effective interfaces with suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, including in written reports.
  • Travel occasionally to other sites as required to support business activities

Desired Skills & Experience

The following are essential:

  • Experience in the maintenance of a CCGT plant or in large-scale process industry, and
  • Educated to HNC standard or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.

The following are desirable:

  • IOSH Entry Level Qualification to Managing Safely.
  • Demonstration of team working skills.
  • Knowledge of budgets and contract management
  • Knowledge and experience of the principles of working safely and health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Focused on achieving results and keen to develop skills
  • Self motivated with a flexible approach.
  • Ability to support other disciplines mechanical with work planning and plant diagnostics.
