Grafton Recruitment are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our client, a leading European manufacturer who are expanding their UK footprint in the industrial sector. Ideally, we are looking for someone coming from the metal or steel sector, or closely related industrial field, who understand the market dynamics, customer expectations and operational complexity of this type of business. This role is perfect for commercially minded individual with a hands on approach and a strong track record in managing clients, teams and business performance.
THE ROLE:
Some of your responsibilities as a Commercial Manager:
- To build, motivate and support commercial UK team, ensuring the business goals and operational efficiency.
- Execute commercial strategies that support long term growth and profitability.
- Conducting market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities.
- Manage and grow existing client accounts while actively acquiring new business.
- Collaborate closely with the wider commercial leadership team to refine unique selling points.
- Participate in strategic management meetings during the onboarding phase (first 3-9months).
- Represent the commercial function during key internal and client facing meetings.
- Serve as the go-to person for pricing, product offering, and commercial decisions when the Commercial Director is unavailable.
- Maintain full visibility over the sales pipeline, spotting performance gaps and recommending corrective actions.
- Stay up to date on the company products and market changes.
THE CANDIDATE:
- The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar commercial leadership role within the steel, metal or closely related industrial sector.
- Knowledge of technical B2B environments and customer needs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and propose innovative solutions.
- Excellent knowledge of ERP, CRM systems and Excel.
- The ability to think strategically and plan effectively.
- Ability to handle negotiations, resolve issues and maintain long term client relationships.
- Strong leadership skills and a collaborative, people first mindset.
- Familiarity with commercial tools, pricing models and performance reporting.
- Ideally will have a Degree in Marketing, Business or a relevant field.
