1:1 Teaching Assistant Needed - Start February 2026 or ASAP

Role: Full-Time, Long-Term (Year 1 Support)

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Strood is seeking a caring and confident Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil who needs guidance with their learning journey and help with regulating frustrations.

About the Role

  • Full-time, long-term position starting Term 4 / February 2026
  • Providing consistent 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil
  • Assisting with early learning skills, activities and classroom engagement
  • Using calm, nurturing approaches to help the pupil manage their emotions
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies
  • Helping to create a positive, structured learning environment

About You

  • Experience working with children in KS1 (SEN experience essential)
  • Patient, empathetic and able to remain calm under pressure
  • Skilled in supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Creative in encouraging participation, progress and independence
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing
