Role
We’re currently looking for a qualified and reliable Automotive Fitter/ Stripper to join our close-knit team. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing damaged vehicle panels to a high standard, preparing vehicles for painting, and ensuring all work is completed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full or partial vehicle strip-downs for accident repairs, including body panels, bumpers, trims, lights, and mechanical components.
- Refit components after repair/paint work, ensuring correct alignment, secure fastening, and operational safety.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
- Follow detailed job sheets and work in accordance with manufacturer and industry repair methods
- Test and inspect repaired vehicles to confirm all systems (mechanical, electrical, safety features) are working correctly.
- Carry out electrical system repairs such as wiring loom replacements, module installations, or diagnostic resets.
- Handle airbags and safety restraint systems in compliance with manufacturer and safety standards.
- Work with hybrid and electric vehicle systems (if trained) to safely power down, isolate, and refit high-voltage components.
- Work closely with the team to ensure jobs are completed on time and to customer satisfaction
- Order or request parts as needed, ensuring correct OEM or approved replacements.
- Always adhere to health and safety guidelines
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an MET Technician/Stripper Fitter in an accident repair or main dealer environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Ability to work to deadlines without compromising quality
- Good attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
