Metal Polisher

We are seeking a skilled Metal Polisher to join our dynamic client. This role involves polishing high-quality stainless-steel products to various grades and finishes, including mirror finish. The ideal candidate will have experience using workshop machinery and abrasive tools, and a strong understanding of metal polishing techniques.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Operate abrasive tools and equipment to polish stainless steel components to the required finish as per customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to accurately polish parts to the correct surface finish.
  • Utilize weld cleaning brush machines and appropriate tools and fluids for weld removal.
  • Perform rework or repair on already polished or part-polished parts and products according to engineering specifications.
  • Regularly liaise with the Team Leader or Production Manager to ensure deadlines are met and priorities are assigned.
  • Conduct quality work checks on in-process polished items to ensure they meet the expected standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area, ensuring all equipment and tools are properly maintained.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of various polishing techniques and experience with different types of metals, including stainless steel.
  • Proficiency in using workshop machinery such as flat bed grinders.
  • Awareness of ISO 9000 Standard and Health and Safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good manual dexterity and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and follow instructions.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to understand technical drawings.
  • Previous polishing experience (minimum 1 year) is desirable; experience with hand tools is essential.
  • Proficiency in Maths and English is required.
