What We're Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A postgraduate degree accredited by the RTPI.
- At least 5 years of experience in development management, including handling complex and strategic developments.
- Exceptional planning and urban design skills, with a strong customer care ethos.
- Proficient communication and negotiation skills to navigate politically sensitive scenarios.
- A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits and meetings.

What You'll Do:
As a Principal Planner, you will:
- Lead and manage a team in the determination of strategic planning applications.
- Contribute to innovative proposals for planning permissions that drive regeneration.
- Generate income through charged pre-application enquiries and negotiate vital planning obligations.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction while delivering exceptional planning services.
Key Responsibilities:
deputise for the Strategic Applications Team Leader in managing up to 100 strategic planning applications annually.
Supervise and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
Develop and maintain effective working methods and structures within the team.
Present complex and controversial items at committee meetings, representing the Council with confidence.
Champion diversity and equality in all service delivery and employment practises.
