Part-Time (3 Days) Teacher of French Required - Outstanding All-Girls School in Havering (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 5 Essential)

Our Outstanding all-girls school in the vibrant and diverse borough of Havering, London, seeks a dedicated and experienced Part-Time (0.6 FTE) Teacher of French to join our thriving Modern Foreign Languages department and make a profound difference to the linguistic proficiency, cultural understanding, and communicative capabilities of our students across Key Stage 3 and, crucially, Key Stage 4 and 5, commencing in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities Include (3 days a week):

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering highly effective and stimulating French lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and aspirations of our students across all key stages, fostering an immersive and engaging language learning experience.
  • Fostering students' deep understanding of key French vocabulary, grammar, and communicative structures, with a strong emphasis on the comprehensive demands of the A-Level specification.
  • Encouraging confident oral communication, accurate written expression, and critical engagement with French-speaking cultures.
  • Assessing and tracking student progress in French across all key stages, providing insightful and constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies to ensure exceptional outcomes, particularly for A-Level students.
  • Contributing actively to the development, implementation, and rigorous review of the French curriculum across all key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and providing extensive opportunities for linguistic enrichment and cultural immersion.
  • Utilising and contributing to the development of high-quality French resources, including authentic materials, digital platforms, and engaging communicative activities.
  • Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote French language and culture within the school community (e.g., French club, pen-pal schemes, cultural events).
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the MFL department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment tailored for an all-girls setting.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in language acquisition and pedagogy, with a strong focus on A-Level teaching and assessment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in French or a closely related highly relevant field (e.g., Modern Languages with a strong French component).
  • Successful and demonstrable experience teaching French across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and, crucially, A-Level.
  • A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level French curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
  • Exceptional pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigour and depth required at Key Stage 5.
  • A profound passion for French language and culture and the ability to inspire and stretch students' linguistic and analytical abilities.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A steadfast commitment to the safeguarding and well-being of students and the promotion of linguistic excellence and global understanding within our vibrant all-girls school community in Havering.
