Our client is a thriving and vibrant practice of mechanical and electrical consulting engineers that has been running over 40 years. They are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join them on a full time, permanent basis from their Romford office. This is due to the growth of the business and a strong project pipeline. Current projects include railways, underground schemes, education projects, commercial offices and civic buildings.

Successful candidates will be Chartered, have the requisite qualifications to obtain Chartered Engineer status, or be close to achieving them. They will have a flexible attitude and be comfortable working on a number of projects simultaneously, from inception to completion.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview

  • Prepare calculations in Hevacomp/ Openbuildings (or similar), produce designs without assistance.
  • Carrying out surveys, preparing reports/specifications.
  • Communicate effectively to clients
  • Working on multiple concurrent projects at once.
  • Undertake surveys and condition reports
  • Prepare feasibility studies and cost plans
  • Prepare Mechanical designs (detailed design) and prepare tender documents.
  • Attend design, client and site meetings.
  • Supervise and mentor junior members of staff and CAD team.
  • Act as Contract administrator on mechanical lead projects.
  • Work as part of a team in multidisciplinary jobs.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements

  • 5 Years+ Experience in a similar role with similar projects
  • A Complete understanding of British Regulations and standards
  • Chartership advantageous
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
  • Experience with Hevacomp and Openbuildings
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam and NBS would be desirable but not essential.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Position Remuneration

  • Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
  • Working hours: 9am -5:30pm
  • Holiday Package: 25 days + 8BH
  • Pension
