About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly primary school in Romford, supporting children in Key Stage 2 with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural needs.

You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and other professionals to provide tailored support that helps pupils access learning, develop social skills, and regulate their behaviour in a positive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and behavioural needs

  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development

  • Implement behaviour support strategies consistently and calmly

  • Assist with adapting learning activities to meet individual needs

  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD and behaviour (essential)

  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils

  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies (e.g. positive behaviour support)

  • Relevant TA or SEN qualifications (desirable but not essential)
