Daniel Owen are proud to be representing a well-known LATCO based in Essex area who are looking for an ambitious Assistant QS/Surveyor to join their team

They are looking for Assistant Quantity Surveyor with ideally 1 + years' experience in either a social housing or construction background who has strong experience and understanding of D&M and Disrepair projects.

  • Managing all commercial aspects of the D&M/Disrepair projects working very closely with other Surveyors and the Head of Service.
  • Demonstrable experience in damp and mould inspections, ideally within social housing.
  • Relevant technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Surveying or Construction). Membership of RICS or CIOB is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of housing health and safety regulations, including HHSRS and disrepair legislation.
  • Proficient in using property management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with residents and colleagues.
  • Conduct detailed property inspections to assess and diagnose causes of damp, mould, and condensation.
  • Produce clear and accurate reports outlining findings, remedial actions, and recommendations for long-term solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams including repairs, tenancy services, and asset management.
  • Oversee and validate contractor works to ensure high standards of repair and regulatory compliance.
  • Support tenants by providing guidance and reassurance throughout the inspection and repair process
  • Contribute to strategic planning for damp and mould prevention and improvements across the housing stock.

Key Knowledge:

  • Property services/construction industry knowledge
  • MCIOB qualification is essential
  • Commercial knowledge and awareness
  • HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying qualification required.
