Extrusion Operative – Romsey

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Extrusion Operative to join our production team in Romsey. This hands-on role involves assisting with the running and setting of extrusion lines, ensuring high-quality output and smooth operation of all related equipment.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in extrusion or a similar manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of extrusion machinery and processes. You’ll be a proactive team player with a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the running, setting, and operation of extrusion lines and downstream equipment

Carry out head, die, and pin changes and settings

Clean barrels and screws as required

Support extrusion line start-up and shut-down procedures

Monitor and maintain product quality in line with specifications

Use fork trucks and manual handling to move raw materials and finished goods

Assist with extrusion trials and help achieve optimum production output

Work closely with setters and fellow operatives to maintain workflow

Trim, cut, wrap, pack, bend, form, and drill extruded products

Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures

Minimise scrap and maintain high housekeeping standards (5S principles)

Record quality checks throughout the shift and report any deviations

Follow all operating procedures and setting sheets

Report any machine breakdowns or safety concerns to the Supervisor or Production Manager
Hours of Work
Your normal working hours are:
-
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 5:00pm
-
Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
You will be entitled to a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two 10-minute tea breaks (Monday–Thursday), plus a 15-minute break on Friday.
Breaks are to be taken at times to suit operational requirements.
Your normal hours include 39 hours at the basic rate plus 5 hours overtime at 1.33 (one hour each day), totalling 44 hours per week.
Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in an extrusion or manufacturing role (essential)

NVQ in Manufacturing (advantageous)

5 GCSEs including Maths (advantageous)

Basic IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel (advantageous)

Forklift Truck Licence (training can be provided)
