Our client, a specialist water jetting solutions company, are looking for an Estimator Assistant to join their dynamic team as soon as possible or upon availability. The firm delivers high-quality water jetting services for the industrial, marine and construction industries.
Shift Pattern/Working Hours: Monday to Friday (08:00 – 17:00)
Flexibility to work outside of these hours to effectively support operational needs is a requirement of the role holder.
Overview:
To support the Senior Estimator in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates by collecting, organising, and analysing data related to materials, labour, and time requirements. The Estimator Assistant plays a key role in helping ensure timely submission of tenders, bids, and pricing documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain the cost database and estimating tools for the business
- Organise and maintain estimate files, bid documents, and historical data
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for projects by gathering data and documentation
- Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to understand scope
- Contact suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and price comparisons
- Prepare and format spreadsheets, tender summaries, and reports for review
- Track and follow up on RFQs (Request for Quotations) to ensure timely responses
- Support the coordination of bid submissions, ensuring all documentation is complete and submitted on time
- Participate in site visits or walkthroughs to gather data, when required
- Maintain confidentiality and data integrity throughout all estimating activities
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Able to interpret/understand a potential client’s requirements, quantify them and prepare/send documentation accordingly.
- A sound understanding of the client’s services and the environments where they are deployed.
- Must be able to read engineers drawings and “take off" relevant information.
- Ability to gain a full understanding of the client’s estimating process and associated administration.
- Ability to communicate, interact and gain the respect of clients and colleagues a like
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
