CY are working with a well-established and growing company who are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Project Accountant to join its finance team. A newly created role, this is a hands-on, varied position offering the opportunity to add real value in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.

As Project Accountant, you’ll play a key part in ensuring projects are financially sound, delivering insightful analysis and working closely with both operational and senior leadership teams. The ideal candidate will be confident managing project finances end-to-end, and able to communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure all project income and costs are accurately captured, monitored, and reported.
  • Provide analysis on customer profitability, project margins, and cost drivers.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to identify and implement cost efficiencies.
  • Support budget planning and forecasting activities.
  • Provide financial input to challenge and support operational decision-making.
  • Monitor contract cash flow, margin performance, and warranty claims.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes, including audit preparation.
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting and accuracy.
  • Adhere to relevant export control and national security standards.

Skills and experience required:

  • Recognised accounting qualification ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, Part Qualified or relevant experience
  • Previous experience in a project-based finance role.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a small, agile team and across multiple departments.
  • High level of integrity, initiative, and resilience.
  • Proficient with financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
