Role Overview

Langfields Limited is seeking an experienced QC Inspector to support the delivery of the Group’s business objectives by ensuring quality control activities are carried out in line with company standards and project requirements.

This is a hands-on role within a fabrication and welding environment, working closely with production, QA, and client representatives to ensure compliance, quality, and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build effective working relationships with managers, chargehands, production teams, QA personnel, and client inspectors.

  • Ensure Quality Management System (QMS) procedures are current and fully adhered to.

  • Review and monitor project Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure all requirements are captured.

  • Process NDT requests and ensure NDT reports are present, accurate, and compliant.

  • Liaise with NDT contractors and coordinate on-site and off-site inspections.

  • Maintain weld logs on the shop floor and ensure welder qualifications are reviewed, current, and correctly filed.

  • Carry out fit-up inspections, visual inspection of welds, and welding parameter checks against WPS requirements.

  • Monitor consumable storage and conduct spot checks in line with WPS specifications.

  • Support the compilation of manufacturing records, documentation, and certification.

  • Assist with final inspections, including dimensional checks and flange faces, prior to dispatch.

  • Ensure photographs are taken during fabrication and at final inspection stages.

  • Support the preparation and presentation of documentation to clients in line with project requirements.

  • Comply with all Langfields policies, procedures, PPE, and Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) requirements.

  • Participate in risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations where required.

Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

  • Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others.

  • Work in accordance with risk assessments, safety procedures, and training provided.

  • Report hazards or unsafe conditions and contribute to continuous improvement in HS&E practices.

  • Stop work where there is a genuine health and safety concern.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Quality Control / Inspection role.

  • Welding Inspection Level II qualification (PCN Level II or CSWIP 3.1 minimum).

  • Strong understanding of welding procedures, NDT, fabrication, and inspection documentation.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and with external inspectors.

What We Offer

  • Be part of an innovative engineering business with over 100 years of expertise.
  • Work on exciting, large-scale projects across nuclear, defence, and renewable sectors.
