SEND Tribunal Lawyer

Rate: 55-60 per hour - Negotiable DOE
Contract: 3-6 months initially

FULLY REMOTE

A local authority based in South Yorkshire has reached out to us to help them find an experienced SEND Lawyer. As part of a strong and cohesive team, the successful candidate will work on a caseload of complex Special Educational Needs and education matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a case load of complex cases, comprising mainly SEN Tribunal cases, with minimum supervision.
  • Undertake advocacy in case management hearings and final hearings in first tier and second tier SEND Tribunal and to instruct counsel as appropriate.
  • Act as a point of contact on a variety of cases, including, taking instructions, giving advice, carrying out research, preparing applications, drafting documents and liaising with witnesses.
  • Attend client liaison meetings to discuss ongoing cases, providing reassurance of a high-quality service and protecting their best interests.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Lawyer/Solicitor with a current practising certificate.
  • Experience working in education/public law or in a complimentary area where your skills are transferrable.
  • Time management skills with the ability to take a diligent and methodical approach to planning work and prioritising tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in order to build strong relationships with clients.
