About the role
We’re looking for a commercially-minded leader to join the Senior Leadership Team. This is a newly created role that will shape and deliver a bold commercial strategy across trading activities, including:
- Hospitality and catering (on-site cafes, afternoon tea, events catering)
- Retail (gift shop and bespoke product lines)
- Weddings, corporate and charity events
- Location hire for film and TV productions
- Visitor experience and front-of-house operations
You'll lead the development of a dynamic, mission-driven commercial offer that reflects values, enhances visitor experience, and supports the organisation’s charitable purpose. This is an exceptional opportunity to make your mark, working for a nationally significant heritage site.
Who we’re looking for
You’re an experienced commercial leader from the hospitality, catering or retail sectors, with a proven ability to grow income, manage multiple revenue streams, and lead high-performing teams.
In your toolkit, you’ll also have:
- Strong business planning and budgeting skills
- Confidence in negotiating contracts and building supplier relationships
- Person-centred approach to leadership, customer service and collaboration
- Track-record of innovating income generation from trading activity
- Ability to work strategically and lead operationally
- Continuous improvement mindset, striving to achieve operational excellence
Experience in heritage, culture, or the third sector is welcome but not essential - what matters most is your ability to bring energy, drive and commercial excellence to a purpose-led organisation.
