Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Gap Technical is proud to be partnering with a leading national FMCG manufacturing business in their search for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-established and reputable organisation with a strong commitment to quality and operational excellence.

The Role
As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of packaging machinery and systems within a food manufacturing facility. Your hands-on approach will be vital in minimising downtime and ensuring optimal machine performance.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on packaging machinery to prevent unplanned breakdowns
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on packaging lines and implement effective solutions
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to maintain smooth operations across production
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
  • Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules for all packaging equipment
  • Monitor equipment for potential improvements in efficiency and reliability
  • Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards
  • Support and train production staff on proper operation and maintenance of machinery

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment (preferably food manufacturing)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent (with an electrical bias preferred)
  • Proven background in the maintenance and fault-finding of packaging machinery
  • Strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems
  • High level of problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good knowledge of health & safety and quality standards in a manufacturing setting
