Our client is the UK's leading supplier of high-quality measuring instruments and a vacancy now exists for a Stores Person who can occasionally be an Accounts Assistant. As the UK & Ireland distributor for key Corporations, they supply automated petroleum test equipment for the petrochemical offshore and refining industries, and the company has grown to hold a major market share in its territory. The Role:
We are seeking a proactive and organized Stores Person who can assist with basic bookkeeping on occasion supporting the Financial Controller. This hybrid role combines responsibilities in store / warehouse management and basic accounting functions, ensuring smooth operations in both areas. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring inventory accuracy, order processing and providing ad hoc administrative support.
Stores Management:
- Assist with the receiving, checking and storing of goods.
- Maintain accurate stock records and inventory control, ensuring stock levels are monitored and updated in real-time.
- Pick, pack and prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and timelines.
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with stock audits as required.
- Ensure the warehouse is kept clean, organized and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Manage the movement of goods, ensuring products are stored in the correct locations for easy access.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of deliveries.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation.
Accounts Support:
- Process and maintain purchase orders, invoices and payment records.
- Assist with data entry for accounts payable and receivable.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies related to invoicing or stock discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and assist with the preparation of financial reports.
- Provide administrative support to the Finance Manager including filing and organizing documents.
General Administration:
- Assist with general office duties, including answering calls, emails and maintaining communication with vendors, suppliers and customers.
- Manage correspondence, ensuring timely responses to inquiries.
- Help maintain filing systems for both warehouse and financial documents.
The Person:
- Good academic qualifications demonstrating numeracy.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, stores or inventory management role ideally in shipping dangerous goods and importing and exporting packages internationally.
- Basic accounting experience or knowledge of accounting software would be beneficial but full training will be given.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and knowledge of SAGE accounting software is a plus.
