Purchasing Manager - South Yorkshire

We're excited to be partnering with a well-established UK manufacturer, working with advanced technology to support leading OEMs across sectors like defence, construction, rail, and much more.

With in-house expertise spanning laser cutting, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, and full assembly, they deliver complex projects from start to finish and they're now looking for a Purchasing Manager to join their team. If you have proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment - we would love to hear from you!

In this role, you'll:

  • Oversee supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and improve purchasing processes.
  • Forecast procurement needs in line with market trends.
  • Lead and develop a small purchasing team, driving both performance and personal growth.
  • Deliver cost reductions and track performance against clear KPIs.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure procurement aligns with operational requirements.
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure accuracy in payments and reporting.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Team management experience with a track record of developing others.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and lean principles.
  • Relevant qualifications (CIPS or degree) or equivalent practical expertise.
