Team Leader - Children & Young Adults **
We are currently looking for a Team Leader to work within a Children's home which provides care and therapeutic support for children and young people age 6-19 years with severe and profound communication difficulties associated with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, and degenerative disorders.
Location: Royston - Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire.
Contract: Permanent. (32 hours per week - Shifts)
Rate of Pay: £25,376.00 - £27,688.96 per annum. (linked to competency and qualifications)
Purpose of the position:
- To have a passion to make a difference, to enable children and young people to succeed and feel valued.
- To actively promote and maintain a stable, happy homely and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our young people first.
- Provide support to the Care Managers through the management, motivation and coaching of a team of support workers and Senior Support workers.
- Be responsible for a team that provide appropriate physical and emotional support to the children and young people through the work of the care team within a residential environment and with off-site activities. This will include: GP other health related appointments, visits to families and trips out.
- Help with the induction of new team members and their continued mentoring and development towards QCF and other mandatory training.
- Carry out supervisions along with dealing with Performance Management issues within your team.
- Take an active role in ensuring that activities are completed, and effectively delegated and day-to-day implementation of young people's individual program plans are carried out efficiently with adequate cover available at all times.
- Ensure that all documentation is kept up to date.
- Undertake on a regular basis sleeping-in duties for which an allowance is paid and waking night duties and undertake duty manager/on call responsibilities
- Please note that the role may require participation in physical intervention and personal care.
Key Accountabilities:
- Supervising staff, identifying and fulfilling training needs, dealing with conduct and career development issues and participating in performance appraisal reviews
- Overseeing the management of a team, the efficient and effective deployment of staff, organising work tasks, ensuring good working relationships between staff, supporting the key worker system.
- Progressing and coordinating flat responsibilities to ensure day-to-day implementation of residents' and users' individual program plans.
- Assisting the Care Manager in the implementation of work practices and procedures to ensure that defined targets are met.
- Assisting in the planning of services to ensure that the service offers value for money to the user and purchaser.
Essential:
- QCF Level 3 in Childcare or a QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Shift / team leading experience.
- To be able (with assistance) to move and handle the young people.
- Required to work shifts including regular rostered weekends, bank holidays and other public holidays.
- Undertake on a regular basis sleeping-in duties for which an allowance is paid and waking night duties and undertake duty manager/on call responsibilities.
