Your new company

We are working on an exciting & interesting role for our client, who are an innovative and fast-growing company that designs, manufactures, and supplies specialist roofing systems. They supply Tier 1 construction companies, roofing contractors, and the solar industry with unique, high-performance products that solve complex issues like waterproofing riser penetrations and structural fixings.

Your new role

We are looking for a technically skilled and highly organised individual to join the Research and Development team. This full-time, on-premises role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering background and a passion for product development. You will lead and support projects through the entire R&D lifecycle-from concept to launch-ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and manufacturing capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define product specifications and strategy
  • Conducting market and technical research to identify new opportunities
  • Leading cross-functional teams through the R&D process
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources
  • Ensuring product compatibility with manufacturing processes
  • Supporting quality assurance and product reliability efforts

What you'll need to succeed

We're looking for someone with a solid foundation in engineering and a proven track record in R&D within the construction product sector. The ideal candidate will come from a larger organisation and have experience of developing complex products for the built environment.

To be considered, you will have the following experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in R&D for a construction product within a large organisation
  • Strong understanding of the built environment and building envelope
  • Engineering qualifications and experience with sheet metals
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • A detail-oriented mindset and a passion for research
  • Full UK work authorisation (no sponsorship required)
  • Strong communication skills and alignment with Nicholson's values
  • GCSE/A-Level passes in English and Mathematics

Ideal backgrounds may include:

  • Façade systems manufacturing
  • Roof waterproofing product manufacturing (not contracting)
  • Manufacturers of complex construction-related products such as balconies, smoke shafts, or ventilation housings
