Positive Outcome have been chosen as a Recruitment Partner for this exceptional provider of Specialist Education & Supported Living for Children, Young People, and Adults with a range of disabilities including Autism. This role involves working in a Special Education Day school which provides Specialist Education for children and young adults up to the age of 19 years old. The Children have a range of learning disabilities or medical complex needs. Working with a multi-disciplinary team, as well as in house therapy specialists they provide young people with the tools and opportunities to shape their own futures. Through high-quality teaching, individualized support, and expert-led integrated therapy, they help students with various additional learning needs to set and achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant, your main role will be to support children with their learning and overall well-being, ensuring each child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. This may occasionally include supporting with personal care needs and implementing positive behaviour management strategies tailored to each child.
  • Establishing a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils, helping them feel safe and motivated to learn.
  • Encouraging independence and personal development while maintaining high standards of behaviour.
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities through a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Supporting offsite learning activities, including topic trips, forest school, sports, and swimming lessons, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in various duties.

Essential Criteria:
  • Full UK driving license and access to your own car are desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Level 2/C or above is essential.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible.
  • Commitment to putting the child first and treating them as an individual.
  • Positive and creative approach in meeting pupils individual needs.
