MIG/TIG Welder and Sheet Metal Worker (Temp-to-Perm)
Working hours and pay
- Location: Rugby
- Hours: 7.30am-4.00pm, Monday-Thursday; 7.30am-12.30pm, Fridays (38 hours per week).
- Pay rate: 15-20 per hour, depending on experience.
- Contract: Temporary with a view to a permanent position after a successful trial period.
Job summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MIG/TIG Welder and Sheet Metal Worker to join our fabrication team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in manufacturing high-quality metalwork, including bespoke staircases, balustrades, and fences, for commercial and residential projects. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for a dedicated and proficient individual.
Key responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine project specifications.
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on various materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, to a high standard.
- Execute sheet metal fabrication tasks, including cutting, forming, bending, and shaping using a range of manual and automated machinery.
- Operate and set up various workshop machines, such as press brakes, guillotines, and saws.
- Assemble and finish fabricated components, ensuring all work meets specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area at all times, adhering to all company health and safety procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with the wider production team to ensure deadlines are met.
Essential skills and experience
- Proven experience as a Welder/Fabricator and Sheet Metal Worker in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret technical and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of standard fabrication and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Experience with workshop machinery is highly beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good manual dexterity and physical fitness.
- Reliable, punctual, and a positive team player.
Desirable qualities
- Experience in fabricating staircases, balustrades, or fences.
- Relevant certifications in welding or fabrication.
