Through continued growth there is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Buyer to manage a range of commodity suppliers and satisfy agreed customer service and Inventory levels whilst working to minimise total acquisition cost to the businessThe RoleReporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer will have accountability for supporting the day-to-day management of Suppliers and working closely with the Operations & NPI teams to resolve supply issues.
Additional accountabilities will include: * Team KPI & performance management * Setting agreed performance targets * Weekly, monthly & quarterly reviews with key suppliers * Analysis of market trends reviewing products, services and pricing * Identification and development of new sources of supply where necessary to support long-term company strategies * Supplier Business reviews to improve Supplier performance where possible * Effective price negotiation and securing the best commercial terms where possible * Cost saving initiatives and process improvements where possible * Making management decisions where necessary and communicating those decisions to the relevant parties * Adherence to all company policies and regulations where requiredThe CandidateThe Senior Buyer appointed to this role will be CIPS qualified (to a minimum Level 3) and have at least 3years experience in a similar role within an Automotive (or similar) manufacturing environment.
Experience of sourcing raw materials (such as metals) is needed in this role as well as a proven track record of project management and understanding of the supplier process or managing a supplier base.
You will have worked closely with Category managers and other internal functions and have built strong relationships.
Communication and organisation are key, as is the ability to effectively negotiate and positively influence.
Strong PC skills, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint is essential.
A working knowledge of ERP systems and e-Sourcing platforms is advantageousThe BenefitsIn return, the successful Buyer will receive a competitive salary of up to £46,000 (dependent upon experience), plus company benefits that includes 6% employer Pension contribution.
