Mechanical Technician – Energy ERF Site
Location: Runcorn
Working Pattern: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Salary: £47,500 per year (Overall Package £49,399 with callout)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Technician to join a leading Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanical maintenance within a process, energy, utilities, or heavy industrial environment.

As Mechanical Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility through hands-on maintenance and fault diagnosis of key mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned and unplanned mechanical maintenance to ensure plant availability and reliability.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on mechanical systems and components.
  • Assist in the coordination and supervision of contractors when required.
  • Input maintenance activities accurately into the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Conduct plant and area safety inspections in line with site standards.
  • Work in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance operations.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance within a power plant, process industry, or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving and logical thinking capabilities.
  • Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds/NVQ) including a formal apprenticeship.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Safe Systems of Work (Permit to Work).
  • Basic IT literacy and familiarity with CMMS platforms.
  • Additional qualifications such as welding certification, health & safety training, or a full UK driving licence.
