Quality Engineer - Northampton - Up to £50,000 per annum - Permanent

This role is focused on maintaining customer satisfaction by ensuring complex machined products meet established quality standards and processes. The Quality Engineer's responsibilities may span the entire supply chain, from incoming supplied parts through manufacturing processes to the final delivery of components to customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with internal and supplier evaluations, ensuring compliance with industry benchmarks and offering necessary clarification.
  • Oversee the approval process for new product launches, including reviewing sample reports, capability assessments, and other related tasks.
  • Manage 8D problem-solving initiatives, working closely with both customers and suppliers to address key quality concerns.
  • Monitor production metrics and generate reports to identify and drive necessary improvements.
  • Supervise the handling of non-conforming materials from identification to resolution, ensuring corrective measures are effectively applied.
  • Engage in the APQP framework, focusing on the quality aspects of the process.

What You Will Bring:

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree, HND, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Strong background, ideally in the automotive sector, with hands-on experience in APQP and Quality Assurance.
  • Proven experience working with complex machined parts.
  • Skilled in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).
  • Proven ability to conduct and lead audits for both product and process evaluations.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and a solid understanding of geometric tolerancing and 2D drawings.
