Our client is a manufacturer of high end products based in Rustington, they are seeking a versatile Shop Floor Production Manager to oversee their manufacturing process and ensure efficiency and quality in our production operations.

The role comprises production, personnel and site management, together with an analytical and strategic element aimed at cost reduction and increased productivity, while ensuring health and safety, compliance and product quality.

Hours:

  • Monday -Thursday 7.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 7.30am to 11.30am.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement production strategies to meet company objective
  • Manage and optimize production schedules to meet customer demands
  • Oversee the supply and upholstery process to ensure timely completion of products
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain high product standards
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and implement solutions
  • Utilize knowledge to troubleshoot production issues and optimize processes

Production

  • Weekly production plans: Ensure that there is sufficient staff for the level of work
  • Factory Flow and Layout: Understand the requirements of the factory and make any changes required to maximise efficiency
  • Inventory Control: Ensure that you have accurate stock figures, that the stock is in the right place at the right time, that there is sufficient space to hold it and that space is utilise correctly
  • Work collaboratively with the General Manager & Directors to support the introduction of new products
  • Play an active role in minimising raw material waste

Personnel

  • Carry out regular staff appraisals with all shop floor personnel
  • Formulate training plans for both new starters and current staff so that we increase skills and capabilities in the factory
  • Drive the teamwork, morale, culture, and productivity of the company

Site

  • Maintain calendar of works to ensure all site and machinery servicing is undertaken at the correct intervals and information is available as and when required by both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure all site maintenance issues or breakdowns are resolved quickly and safely and communicated where appropriate to the Directors’

Health and Safety and Compliance

  • Health and Safety: From ensuring that the correct Risk Assessments are in place and are being followed to ensuring that the necessary people are trained in their departments for the tasks at hand
  • Compliance: To ensure all compliance requirements are being followed in areas such as FSC, Flammability regulations, COSHH and any future developments

Analysis and Strategy

  • Develop, implement, and successfully conclude cost reduction programmes together with the Planner and the General Manager
  • Visualisation of KPIs for factory staff – attendance, production achievement vs targets

Health and Safety, Compliance, Quality Control

  • Report to the Directors regularly with status of the factory with regards to the above areas
  • Bring complex issues to the Directors: explain the issue and propose potential solutions for the Directors to discuss and agree
