Are you an experienced HGV Technician or Mechanic looking for a hands-on role with added responsibility? Our client, a well-established family-run haulage firm in Cranbrook, Kent, is seeking a capable and confident HGV Fitter / Workshop Supervisor to join their team.You’ll oversee a small onsite workshop maintaining a fleet of 18–20 Volvo and Scania trucks – supporting a developing apprentice and keeping the wheels of the business moving. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who’s confident in their abilities, happy to guide others, and knows when to escalate repairs to the dealers.What’s in it for you?

Heated Workshop with:
  • Brake roller tester
  • Inspection pit
  • Hydraulic equipment
  • Headlight alignment tools
What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Maintain and repair fleet vehicles including gearboxes, brakes, mirrors, and Euro 7 engines
  • Keep up with compliance paperwork – PMIs, MOTs, tachograph checks, defect reports
  • Use Sterling Workshop System to log all jobs, defects, inspections, and breakdowns
  • Guide and mentor an apprentice technician
  • Attend occasional breakdowns – within Kent, Sussex, Surrey & London (no recovery work)
  • Flag when jobs are best handled by main dealers – we don’t need a ‘yes’ person!
  • Keep on top of stock, paperwork, and compliance with UK Operator Licence standards
What We’re Looking For:
  • HGV Class 2 Licence – essential
  • Strong mechanical background – ideally in Scania or Volvo trucks
  • Someone confident, capable, and good at decision-making
  • A natural mentor – you’ll help support a motivated apprentice in his training
  • Comfortable with compliance paperwork and workshop systems
  • Welding/fabrication skills a bonus
