We are seeking an Additive Manufacturing and Prototyping Technician / Specialist to join our Saffron Walden based client. You will support rapid prototyping, fabrication and small-batch production for engineering and RandD teams, working on components for advanced sensing, robotics and AI-enabled systems. This role is open to both junior and experienced specialists. You will work closely with engineering and RandD teams, influencing and expanding in-house fabrication and AM capabilities.

Responsibilities

- Operate and maintain 3D printers (FDM, SLA, SLS), including slicing, setup, monitoring and post-processing
- Support hands-on prototyping and fabrication using workshop tools%3B assist with simple machining (CNC a plus)
- Produce jigs, fixtures, enclosure, and test hardware%3B assemble prototype systems
- Make basic CAD edits and prepare models for print%3B advise on DFAM
- Inspect parts, maintain an organised workshop and improve workflows
- Senior candidates may lead AM strategy, train others and support advanced materials/process research

Requirements

- Experience with 3D printers and slicing software
- Basic CAD skills and strong hands-on workshop ability
- Good mechanical understanding, organisation and attention to detail
- Desirable: professional AM/prototyping experience, advanced materials, CNC/laser experience, test jig building, DFAM knowledge, printer repair, electronics familiarity, robotics/hardware background
